In 2003, I won a BBC writing competition, which set me on a journey as a children's author (under my maiden name, Louise Arnold). In the UK, my books were titled "The Invisible Friend," "The Ghost School," and "A Good Day for Haunting." It was such a priviledge to see my work translated into different languages, hear it as an audiobook, and read letters from children around the world who had connected with the stories. (Trust me, there's nothing more uplifting, moving, or darkly hysterical than letters from tiny humans who are still workshopping etiquette.)
For a brief, wonderful time, the rights were even optioned by DreamWorks Animation. The film never made it into existence but I still have a stash of Dreamworks branded CD cases they gave me (which should date the experience nicely).
In 2025 I will be returning to the publishing world with a new children's book. Watch this space!
